kaichu-doro to islands

it's saturday, the first day of the three-day weekend in japan. we decided to go on the kaichu-doro (海中道路) in uruma-city to visit the surrounding islands: heiza, miyagi, and ikei (平安座、宮城、伊計). i was a designated driver on the way.

stopped by umi-no-eki, ayahashi-kan, at the half way poit of the kaichu-doro, and had lunch there. finally enjoyed sea grapes we were longing since we moved. kazuto had a bowl of sea grapes and spicy mozuku (sea weed), and me a bowl of sea grapes and marinated fish. each was 500yen, what a deal!!

after our appetite was fulfilled, we drove further up to henza island and then to miyagi island. our next stop was nuchiunaa (ぬちうなー), a salt factory producing nuchimaasu (ぬちまーす), on miyagi island. according to the tour guide of the factory, "nuchi" means "life" (命) and "maasu" means "salt" (塩) in okinawan dialect.

and interestingly, there were a couple of so-called "power spots" on the property. "kafuu banda" meaning "cape of happiness"(幸せ岬) was one of them.

our next stop was ikei island. saw hermit crabs at the beach. everytime i tried to take a pic, they hid back inside their home. soooo shy & cute.

here kazuto snacking on the clouds before dinner. he must had been so hungry, yeah? after all, it was great driving on the kaichu-doro. just wanna thank our car for taking us everywhere. a car is a saviorrrr.
