but hey it's the weekend. let's do something F-U-N! something refreshing. something that would take us away from our routine cycles that have slowly but surely been forming. and something that would rescue me from those scary dreams. so we headed to the south.
our first stop was a tacos restaurant "mexico" in ginowan city. this was our come-back come true since our first visit got dumped cos the restaurant was closed. we were happy the restaurant was open this time. 4 tacos for 500 yen plates were yummy. the shells were like no other, in between soft and hard, which were indescribable but flavorful. and surprisingly, those plates were the only stuff they serve except bottled drinks. the owner of the restaurant must be proud of his / her tacos. how cool is that. jazz music was playing in the back and it was very chill. many customers came and went. this place was busy.
after the late lunch at mexico, we went to naha city. stopped by a mall called naha main place. there, we found KALDI, a grocery shop that specializes in coffee and food from the world, and that made us feel at ease (well, KALDI had that effect on me cos there was one KALDI store near by our place in tokyo). then we jumped on the mono rail from omoromachi station after checking out DFS store right next to the sta. the two-car mono rail was fun to ride.
our next stop was shuri castle where a mid-autumn festival was held at night.
everything about the castle was beyond my expectation. the high walls around the castle were well built. there were so many gates and steps to climb until you actually reach the main castle. and the views were amazing. i thought nothing of shuri castle until i saw it myself but was impressed by its beauty.
and the festival was lovely. the performance of the traditional okinawan music and dance was
relaxing and elegant. the dance performers in the traditional okinawan clothes were moving slowly and enchantingly. i had my eyes closed for a second to feel the music and kazuto
acused me of falling asleep. hellooooo, i was awake.
there was a vending machine for umbrellas!

we found a cute drawing at shuri station that promotes "driving less for the environment." the yellow car in the bottom actually gew out legs. mmm, C-U-T-E!
driving on route 58 on our way home was something very similar to driving in las vegas. all those sparkles from pachinco stores, i mean. there was one pachinco store that was all rainbow with sensational brightness. i was only able to capture the edge of the rainbow, ah. the other pachico looked like one of the hotels on the las vegas strip. the feeling of driving in vegas (or anywhere in the us) comes strong if you are listening to english songs or radio and look out the window and see foreign drivers. very common in okinawa. tonight, kazuto and i were blessed with a bit of las vegas trip feel as well. Y-E-S!
